Clay modeling of a Christmas tree. Christmas tree magnet made of polymer clay: a fabulous DIY souvenir! For production we need

Today our master class is devoted to how to make a Christmas tree from polymer clay with your own hands. We designed this craft in the form of a decorative pendant, but it can also be used as a New Year's toy, phone pendant or keychain. This Christmas tree is made from polymer clay very simply and quickly.

Tools and materials Time: 2 hours Difficulty: 5/10

  • polymer clay or cold porcelain white (we used cold porcelain);
  • glass rod;
  • texture plates;
  • metallized acrylic paint;
  • boat "Yolochka";
  • pastel of different shades;
  • sparkles of gold, silver and bronze shades;
  • small round crystals;
  • Swarovski crystals;
  • brushes;
  • latex gloves;
  • olive or Shea oil;
  • spray varnish;
  • chain or cord with clasp;
  • connecting rings;
  • round nose pliers.

This polymer clay Christmas tree will look great as a New Year's decoration. It looks very much like rustic wood and resin jewelry, only it is much stronger and will be difficult to break!

To make this craft, we used latex textured flex boards, which can be purchased at a craft store. Our polymer clay Christmas tree is green in different shades, but instead of buying different shades of clay, we purchased big package white clay, deciding that we would add color later.

Polymer clay is non-toxic, but keep in mind that there are always people who may be sensitive to it, so wear gloves while working. In addition, the smooth surface of the gloves will protect the craft from fingerprints.

We used wax paper to protect the surfaces. A little extra lubrication, such as olive oil or Shea butter, on the surface of the tools will also help.

Step-by-step instructions with photos

So let's get to work. This polymer clay Christmas tree is easy to make, but requires a little time for the product to dry completely.

Step 1: Roll out the clay

Take a small piece of clay and knead it in your hands until it becomes soft and smooth. Using a glass rod, roll out the clay into a layer 17 mm thick.

For additional convenience, we used plastic plates, which were lined up in 2 rows between rolling sheets 17 mm high. This allowed us to obtain a layer of the desired thickness. If you don't have such cards, you can use playing cards.

Step 2: Make a Texture

Grease the texture plate with oil to prevent the clay from sticking to it.

Place the plastic cards on the texture plate and reduce their height to 14mm.

Using a glass rod, roll out the sheet of clay onto the texture plate.

Using a steady hand, remove the clay from the plate. You need to act very carefully here, without any turning back and forth, otherwise the drawing will turn out blurry.

Step 3: Cut out the Christmas tree

Dip the herringbone cutter in lubricant and place it on the textured clay.

Carefully cut out the Christmas trees.

Leave them for a while to dry slightly.

Step 4: Paint the Christmas Tree

As soon as the Christmas trees are slightly dry, they need to be painted.

Paint the figures with metallic acrylic paint in the colors you want.

You can also use pastels.

Or take advantage of the patina.

Sequins in gold, silver and bronze colors look beautiful. Just spray the products with it and rub it with your fingers in some places.

You can also decorate the figures with crystals, pieces of chains, etc. at your request. To do this, you need to not just press the decorations onto the clay - they need to be immersed in the crafts to ½ or 1/3 of the height.

Don't forget to make small holes in the top of the Christmas trees for the connecting rings. To do this, you can use a toothpick or any other sharp and thin object.

Step 5: Varnish

Cover the top of the crystals with a drop of superglue if they are not held firmly in place. This is a clear and very strong glue.

Spray the figures on both sides with 2-3 layers of spray varnish. Make sure the previous layer is completely dry before applying the next coat.

Carry out any manipulations with varnish and other strong-smelling substances in a well-ventilated area. We usually do this in the bathroom, where we can turn on the hood.

Remember to wash the texture plates after use with warm water and soap.

Even with careful cleaning, pieces of clay can get stuck between the textures. To do this, simply wait until the clay dries and then bend the flexible plates and use a stiff brush to remove the remaining material.

Step 6: Hang the Christmas Tree

As a star for the Christmas tree, we used Swarovski crystals, which were fixed inside a metal ring with wire.

After that, we attached another connecting ring at the top, into which we threaded a chain with a clasp. If you prefer cords with clips, you can use them.

Among all kinds of handicrafts and creativity, toys made from polymer clay occupy a special place. Designer products, dolls, and plastic souvenirs amaze and delight with their exquisite beauty. But this type of creativity is available not only to professional designers, but also to housewives and mothers. In addition, working with polymer clay is similar to modeling from plasticine, which even children do.

Materials for modeling

For those who decide to make a toy, the main thing is not to purchase anything extra. Next, we will consider what material and additional tools and equipment needed for initial stage work.

It is not necessary to purchase plastic of all kinds of colors. It is enough to buy those shades that will be present in the future craft. Polymer clay can be found in specialized departments for creativity. To glue individual elements together, you will need liquid plastic, which is also used to coat finished polymer clay toys. The same role is played by plastic varnishes. They can be either transparent or matte, as well as shiny. Their use gives the products brightness and durability. Apply varnish to the toy using synthetic brushes.

Special devices

Expensive tools can initially be replaced with improvised materials. Use ceramic or glass floor tiles as a workboard. Stacks that create various indentations can be replaced with toothpicks, knitting needles, pins, an awl and other handy materials. Also, to create toys from polymer clay, kits can be useful. To roll out the plastic, use a special acrylic roller, which can replace a bottle, eau de toilette and deodorant containers, or any metal rod.

You also need a sharp stationery knife and comfortable finger pads in order to avoid your own fingerprints on toys. And the most important thing is a stand for products and various elements for subsequent baking. For the same savings, you can use cardboard boxes, making holes on top, into which, in turn, insert toothpicks with parts.

As for self-hardening clay, it does not need to be placed in the oven. Products made from it dry at room temperature. But drying devices will also be needed.

MK: we create Christmas tree toys from polymer clay

Above we looked at what tools and materials are needed to work with plastic. Before you begin, prepare all the equipment.

Since it's getting closer New Year, it would be wise to make Christmas tree decorations from polymer clay. First of all, let's make a Christmas tree. During the work you will need plastic in green, brown and red tones.

To depict a spruce crown, mold a cone out of clay and use nail scissors to make cuts along the entire perimeter at an angle of 45 degrees, thereby creating an imitation of branches with needles. Then, from brown clay, mold a short trunk in the form of a stump.

Don't forget the red star. To do this, prepare a stencil and use it to make a five-pointed figure. As a fastener, carefully thread the wire through the product and place it in the oven.

Christmas tree decorations from polymer clay can be sculpted both flat and voluminous. For example, our Christmas tree is a solid three-dimensional product. Let's look at how to make toys in the form of medallions.

How to make it yourself

In special departments selling creative goods, they offer molds for applying drawings or any relief. At home, texture can be applied to medallions using scrap materials.

Take self-hardening clay and a rolling pin. You can apply the relief using various children's molds, lids, culinary figurines and other useful parts. Petals, leaves and stems will also come in handy artificial flowers. For painting you will need sponges and acrylic varnish.

We start work by rolling out polymer clay required quantity. We firmly close the remaining plastic from penetrating air. Then we leave pre-prepared prints and stamps on a sheet of clay in a chaotic manner. Then, using a mug, we cut out a medallion with a design. We make a hole for fastening with a knitting needle or a toothpick. We dry it naturally. The New Year's toy is ready.

A very exciting activity is modeling from polymer clay. Toys and dolls turn out surprisingly attractive and natural.

In our modern times, when all stores are filled with consumer goods in the field of decorative plastic, there is an urgent need for individual approaches to creating unique products. The special beauty lies in creating your own unique product with your own hands and placing it in your home or giving it to a friend. My flight of imagination focused on the New Year theme and the idea arose to make a Christmas tree pencil holder.

For production we need:

  • natural clay;
  • water;
  • stacks;
  • oilcloth;
  • brush.

1. Knead the clay, which likes a moderate amount of water. How to check? Roll out a rope of clay and fold it in half. If there are no cracks at the break, then you can sculpt, if there are, then knead the clay and add water.

2. We connect the rolled strand into a ring and place it on an oilcloth or a machine that can be rotated around its axis.

3. We place the second and subsequent bundles on top of each other and lubricate each other so that the connection between the outside and the inside is not visible, creating a smooth surface. When the cone has been molded, it is necessary to smooth it well and polish it on all sides.

5. To create a semblance of Christmas tree branches, we stick strands onto the cone from bottom to top without covering the holes.

6. Let’s make a pig on one of the branches of our Christmas tree. To do this, roll up an oval and stick it to the tree. We sculpt a ball onto the oval - this will be the head. We make ears from triangles. We make a patch from a small flattened ball. We make legs and a tail from the strands. We lubricate all the details well, creating the image of a cheerful pig.

7. Draw needles on the Christmas tree in a stack.

8. When all the parts are molded, polish the product with fingers soaked in water and a brush (for small parts).

9. Leave until completely dry. If you have a kiln, we fire it at a temperature of 1000 degrees.

10. After drying or firing, we paint our pencil box with gouache or acrylic paints. Cover with varnish.

The holidays are coming, and the elf works and works, the poor fellow, makes gifts, carries them. He was so tired that he dozed off unnoticed, and in the meantime we will give him a gift. The result will be a magical Christmas tree for the elf.

Materials:
baked polymer clay with green, red and gold glitter;
additional clay of any color;
liquid plastic;
pasta machine or rolling pin;
small round cutter (mold);
round cutter with a diameter of 5-5.5 cm;
scalpel or stationery knife;
needle;
stylus (stack with a ball) or toothpick;
a sheet of thick paper;
glue (for paper and super glue);
wooden skewer;
thin drill - diameter like a skewer;
a small piece of parchment;
film or plastic bag;
smooth pebble or spoon;
ordinary light bulb;
wet wipes(if necessary, wipe your hands, work surface);
work surface, on which we will bake tiles or glass from a photo frame.

How to make a Christmas tree from polymer clay.

We make a template for the cone from thick paper. We outline a medium-sized plate, find the center and cut out a sector - about 1/3. I got a cone 10 cm high with a base diameter of 5-5.5 cm.

1

We take a piece of unnecessary clay (I just took white clay, but leftovers of any color will do, the main thing is that its baking temperature is the same as that of the clay from which we will sculpt the Christmas tree). We knead this piece well and roll out two layers on a pasta machine (also known as a noodle making machine - hereinafter referred to as PM) at the thickest value (one, and nine is the thinnest), with an approximate thickness of 2-3 mm.

If there is no PM, you can use a rolling pin or bottle. We apply the template to one of the layers and cut out along the contour with a scalpel. We perform a similar procedure with red clay. This time we roll out the layer at an average PM value (this is a five), the thickness is about 1-1.5 mm, apply the template, cut it out and put it aside.

Now you can glue the paper template. We place the white clay blank on a paper cone. We smooth the joints - you can use liquid plastic so that the seam definitely does not come apart. We will bake directly on the paper blank.

2

On the second layer of white clay, use a round cutter with a diameter of 5-5.5 cm (maybe a lid or some kind of mold) to mark a circle, then use a stationery knife to lay “axes” through the optical center. The lines are indicative - no special clarity is required.

3

By the way, this is the future base - a stand for the Christmas tree, and it’s good if its diameter is approximately the same as the diameter of the base of the cone.

Mix “Christmas tree” green clay. To do this, we use red and green clays with glitter in a ratio of 1:6. We roll out a small layer at the seventh or eighth PM value, the thickness is less than 1 mm. At the same value, we roll out small layers of red and gold clay.

4

We randomly cut triangles with a stationery knife, the main thing is that one corner is always sharp, and, preferably, cut them long; the “bottom” edge may remain uneven.

5

We lay out a circle of triangles, use the axes as guides, all the corners of the triangles should converge in the center.

6

The colors and width of the triangles are chosen arbitrarily. Smooth the triangles to the base from the corner outward. When we have laid out the entire circle, we cover the workpiece with parchment and gently smooth out the joint lines in a circular motion, for example, with a regular tablespoon. Remove the parchment.

7

We cover the workpiece with film or a plastic bag and cut out a circle with a mold we are already familiar with.

8

Remove the film and remove excess clay. We place the workpiece on a regular light bulb, smoothing it from the center to the edges so that no air remains under the clay.

9

Use a stylus (or just a toothpick) to mark the center.

10

We send both blanks (cone and light bulb) to bake in accordance with the instructions on the packaging of the clay you are using. While everything is baking, at the thinnest PM value, roll out the clay of a “herringbone” color and cut it with a scalpel into arbitrary small pieces (about 5-7 mm wide).

11

We take a small round cutter and cut out hollies - a traditional Christmas plant - cutting off the edges with the cutter.

12

We roll a thin sausage out of red clay, cut it into small pieces and roll them into balls.

Remove the cooled blanks from the light bulb and paper base. We continue to work with the cone. We lubricate it with liquid plastic on the outside, and apply the previously cut piece of red plastic. Smooth it onto the baked base and level the joint.

13

Now we decorate with hollies. Using a scalpel, remove one leaf at a time and apply it to the Christmas tree, using a needle to carefully lay out the veins.

14

Three leaves, and then 2-3 berry balls in the center - and so on until the whole Christmas tree is decorated. We randomly poke between the leaves with a needle - and the air will come out, and the surface will look more interesting.

In the stand blank we drill a hole in the center where we marked it earlier.

15

From the inside we cover the workpiece with liquid plastic. We “fill” the stand with well-kneaded white clay, insert a skewer into it from the outside, make several “pricks” with a needle to let the air out, and remove the skewer.

We roll balls with a diameter of about 3-4 mm from golden plastic. Use the blunt end of a skewer to press the hole in the center - you get “donuts”.

16

We again send both pieces into the oven for 20 minutes, and along with them the “bagels”.

Roll out a thin layer of golden plastic (at 7-8 PM value) - for the interior decoration of the Christmas tree. We cut the layer into sectors. We cover the cooled Christmas tree inside with liquid plastic and begin the interior decor - we apply it sector by sector, smoothing out the joints.

17

We process the bottom with a thin strip of golden plastic, having previously lubricated the edge with liquid plastic.

18

Lubricate the bottom of the stand with liquid plastic and apply a layer of golden plastic. We trim off the excess, you can texturize it, for example, intensively poke it with a needle or toothpick. When everything has cooled down, if necessary, sand the edges with a regular “soft” nail file and assemble the Christmas tree.

For a stronger fixation, add a drop of super glue to the end of the skewer and insert it into the stand, put on the bagels, again a drop of glue on the other end - and put on the Christmas tree.

Ready! The elf now has his own tree.

What could be more relevant in New Year's decorations than miniature Christmas trees dusted with snow or hung with toys? The mini master class that I offer on making Christmas trees from polymer clay will help you for a short time(about 15 minutes to make one spruce) create a decoration in the form of earrings or pendants that will perfectly highlight and complete your New Year's look and style.

Materials and tools used for making Christmas trees:

1. green or light green polymer clay;
2. metal nails with a head;
3. nail clippers or small scissors;
4. glitters and glosses that are metallized and will not burn when fired;
5. brush for applying glitter;
6. varnish for polymer clay.

So, let's start sculpting:

1. Knead the green plastic thoroughly until it becomes soft and elastic, and form it into a drop 2 cm high and the largest part 1.5 cm wide.

2. Using the shaft of a metal nail, pierce the drop through the entire body so that the head of the nail is slightly pressed into the bottom of the spruce.

3. Using nail clippers or small scissors, you need to pinch (cut) the plastic and form sharp needles. It is necessary to pluck the surface of the clay from the upper narrowed part of the drop and smoothly move to the bottom of the spruce.

4. If you make earrings, try to ensure that the drops are initially the same in shape and size. Before baking, the needles can be slightly raised - then the Christmas tree will be more fluffy.

5. Using a brush, apply glitter or dry crumbly shadows evenly over the entire surface of the Christmas trees, the main thing is that they are metallized and can easily withstand high temperatures. Place the Christmas trees in the oven for firing. Observe the baking temperature and time spent in the oven according to the recommendations given by the manufacturer on the plastic packaging.

6. After firing, coat the product with varnish, since without coating the glitter may come off the surface of the Christmas trees over time. Make a loop from the stem of the stud using pliers and hang earrings if these are earrings, or a chain if this is a pendant. You can also make it as a gift for your friend
