How to make the right resume. Sample resume writing. What information should be provided and in what order?

Listen to someone who has reviewed over 100,000 resumes throughout his career and really knows how to make a resume more compelling. Here, by the way, is my LinkedIn profile, see for yourself: mpritula.

But let's agree right away: no deception on your resume. Only honest information. How to make your resume really cool without cheating - about this in my life hacks.

Why almost perfect? Here are 10 tips I would give on this resume:

  • Take a photo on a plain background (white or gray).
  • Remove one phone. Why does a recruiter need to think about where to call?
  • Change your email to a personal one, not a company one.
  • Remove marital status.
  • Combine competencies and key experience. Reduce sentences to 7-10 words and format them as a list.
  • Remove recommendations.
  • Correct the misspelling of the word “company” in your last place of employment.
  • Reduce responsibilities to 10 lines.
  • Make the link short (bit.ly, goo.gl).
  • Reduce the total length of your resume to two pages.

Making your resume more expensive

Now let's talk about what makes a resume more expensive. I advise people on how to improve their resume. Representatives of a variety of positions send me their resumes: from ordinary salespeople to company directors. Everyone makes the same mistakes. There wasn't a single resume for which I couldn't write 10 tips on how to improve it. Below I have collected the most frequent advice that I gave on the resumes sent.

10. Combine many jobs into one

It is considered normal if a person works for a company for 2–3 years. If he changes jobs more often, he may be called a job hopper. Recruiters don’t like such people, since about 70% of customers refuse to consider such candidates. And this is quite natural.

After a year of work, a person only begins to benefit the company.

Of course, everyone has the right to make mistakes, and a good resume may contain a couple of places where the candidate worked for 1–1.5 years. But if the entire resume looks like this, then its value is very low.

However, it often happens that a person has changed several job positions in one company or moved from company to company within a holding structure. Or was he studying project work, during which I changed several employers.

In such cases (and wherever possible), I recommend registering this as one place of work, with one name and common dates of work. And inside this block, you can unobtrusively show a change of positions, but in such a way that visually, upon a quick inspection of the resume, there is no feeling of a frequent change of jobs.

11. Keep your resume to the ideal length

I believe that the ideal length of a resume is strictly two pages. One is too little, it is only permissible for students, and three is too much.

If everything is clear with one page - such a resume looks like a resume for a novice specialist - then with three, four, and so on pages, everything is not so obvious. And the answer is simple: the recruiter will look at only two pages 80% of the time. And it will only read what you indicated on these two pages. Therefore, no matter what you write on the third and subsequent pages, it will remain unnoticed. And if you write valuable information about yourself there, the recruiter will not know about it.

12. Share your achievements

If you remember only one sentence from my article, let it be about achievements. This immediately adds 50% value to your resume. The recruiter is simply not able to interview everyone who sent a resume. Therefore, the one who indicated his achievements and was able to thereby interest the recruiter will always win.

Achievements are your measurable ones, which are expressed in numbers, deadlines or significant qualitative changes in the company. They must be specific, measurable, impressive and relevant to the position.

Example of achievements:

  • In three months, I increased TV sales by 30% (store director).
  • Brought to market New Product in four months, which helped me earn 800 thousand dollars in six months (marketing director).
  • Negotiated with suppliers and increased the deferment on payments by 30 days, saving the company on loans - $100 thousand monthly (purchaser).
  • Reduced staff turnover from 25 to 18% through employee engagement (HR).

13. Tell us about your personal qualities

Nowadays, more and more attention is paid to the personal qualities of an employee when selecting candidates. If you analyze what exactly you will be assessed at the interview, then most likely it will be like this:

  • 40% - professional knowledge;
  • 40% - personal qualities;
  • 20% - motivation (the desire to do this particular job in this particular company).

What are personal qualities? These are personal qualities of a person that contribute to the effective performance of their duties.

This includes: energy, openness, ability to work in a team, initiative, proactivity, and so on. Moreover, these are no longer empty words; at interviews, more and more often you will hear the following question: “Tell me about a situation in which you had to take responsibility and how you dealt with it.” This is called competency-based assessment.

Therefore, your personal qualities, especially if they correspond to those required by the vacancy, are extremely important. And if previously it was enough to simply list them, now this is no longer enough. Now we need to confirm their presence, so I recommend writing them like this (of course, you give your own examples, a mandatory rule: they all must be real and from the past):

  • Initiative: developed and implemented a strategy for the department to overcome the crisis when the head left.
  • Energy: My sales volume for 2014 was 30% above the department average.
  • Stress resistance: successfully negotiated with a client who refused seven managers, and concluded an agreement with him.
  • Leadership: conducted five management trainings and developed 10 managers from line employees.

Here it is important to write not many qualities, but qualities with examples. That is, examples here are more important than quantity.

14. Throw functional responsibilities from the job description into the trash!

Functional responsibilities that are indicated on a resume are usually the most banal and tedious thing. In 30% of cases they are copied from their own job description, in 50% of cases - from other people’s resumes or job descriptions, and only 20% really write them well on their own.

I always recommend writing down responsibilities, not areas of responsibility, and describing them in the form of actions that you performed. This is similar to achievements, but numbers are not required here, responsibilities may not be so impressive, and, naturally, these are not one-time actions.

Before writing them, I recommend reading a few job openings to get an idea of what is worth writing about. Next, write down the responsibilities in order of their importance: the most significant ones come first (strategy development, introducing new products to the market), and the least significant ones come last (preparation of reports).

15. Sell your job title and company

Job titles and a list of companies are, in fact, exactly what a recruiter looks for in a resume in the first place. It’s like a buyer sliding his eyes along a store shelf in search of brands familiar to him (Nescafe, Procter & Gamble, Gallina Blanca, Mars, Snickers, Tide). It is on these lines that the recruiter forms the initial cost of the resume in his head and only then begins to look for details.

  • We write only the generally accepted name. If you work for the company "Nails and Nuts" LLC, which is official dealer Coca-Cola, then just write Coca-Cola. Believe me, no one is interested in the legal name of the company.
  • We write the number of employees in brackets, for example: IBM (3,000 employees).
  • Under the name of the company, we write briefly in 7-10 words what it does. For example: one of the top 5 in the field of consumer lending.
  • If the company is little-known, but works with well-known brands, be sure to indicate this. For example: “Autosupersuperleasing” (leasing partner of BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Honda). Name famous brands near an unknown company will significantly enhance the perception of the company.

16. Remove template phrases from the “Goal” section

Immediately after your contact information in your resume there is a section called “Goal”. Usually in this section they write template phrases like “Maximize your potential...”. Here you need to list a list of positions that interest you.

17. Always check your spelling

Typically, about 5% of all resumes I review contain errors:

  • basic grammatical errors (there was no spell check);
  • errors in the spelling of foreign words (only Russian spelling is checked);
  • errors in punctuation: a space before a comma, a comma between words without spaces;
  • in lists there are different punctuation marks at the end of the sentence (ideally there should be none; a period is placed after the last item in the list).

18. Save your resume in DOCX format and nothing else.

  • Not PDF - many recruiters make their edits or notes (salary expectations, their impressions of the candidate, information that was obtained during the interview) in the resume before sending it to the customer; they will not be able to add them to PDF.
  • Not ODT - may not open correctly on some computers.
  • No DOC is a sign that the resume is from the past (pre-Office 2007).
  • Not RTF - usually weighs more than alternatives.

19. Use a resume file name that is convenient for the recruiter

The title of the resume file must contain at least your last name and preferably your position. So more convenient for the recruiter will look for a resume on its disk, forward it, and so on. A little concern for the recruiter will definitely be noted. Again, this makes the resume a little more expensive in the eyes of the recruiter.

20. Show your value in your cover letter.

There are different opinions about cover letters. I always say this: a good cover letter can add value to a resume 20% of the time if it's written correctly. But it is not always necessary.

If you decide to write it, then here is a simple structure:

And if shown with an example, it could look like this:

Mistakes in your resume

Along with the secrets to increasing the value of a resume, there are things that make a resume significantly cheaper. Let's talk about some of them.

Nowadays, many job search sites allow you to download a resume created there. At the same time, they always add their logo and various fields for entering information into such a resume, which is not at all necessary for the resume. For example, gender. These resumes look like they're really cheap, so I don't recommend ever doing that.

21. Remove confusing abbreviations

When you work in a company for a long time, some of the abbreviations adopted in it already seem so familiar that you write them on your resume. But they are unfamiliar to the recruiter, so very important information is lost. Try to avoid abbreviations wherever possible.

22. Paraphrase cliched phrases

Very often you want to give in to temptation and stuff into your resume template phrases that can easily be found in any resume or job description. Avoid them as they are a waste of space to the recruiter.

Paraphrase, for example:

  • Result orientation = I always think about the result in my work.
  • Customer focus = the client always comes first for me = I put the client’s interests above my personal ones.
  • Communication skills = I can easily negotiate with any clients/colleagues = I can easily carry on conversations with clients.

23. Create a normal box

What distinguishes a professional from a child? A professional calls his mailbox by first and last name, and a child uses children’s words, nicknames from games and forums, and his date of birth.

Well, it is absolutely unacceptable to indicate your work mailbox. The recruiter in this case will interpret this nuance as follows: “I’m being fired from my job, and therefore I don’t have to be afraid and send my resume from my work email.”

24. Delete marital status, it is only of interest to visitors of dating sites

There is only one case when indicating marital status can play a positive role: if a young girl is looking for a job and wants to show that she will not go on maternity leave immediately after employment. In this case, you can indicate the presence of children.

The options “civil marriage” and “divorced” immediately reduce the cost of the resume, as additional questions arise.

The option “I have children” is written by very narrow-minded people, since all normal people “”. :)

25. Explain the work experience gap.

You can’t just show a gap in work. You need to write why exactly it arose. The option “I’ll explain at the interview” is not suitable, since the recruiter, seeing the gap, will think the worst that could happen.

If there was a maternity leave between two jobs, we write that. By the way, if the maternity leave was without leaving for another job, there is no point in writing it at all. I don’t even recommend highlighting this in any particular way during an interview.

26. Remove the end date from the last place

This is the only resume trick that can be forgiven. It is believed that a person draws up a resume before dismissal and after dismissal simply does not update this date. In any case, the specified dismissal date will work against you.

27. Don’t write reasons for dismissals

There is no reason why reasons for dismissal need to be specified. No matter what you write there, the recruiter will always have suspicions about your desire to explain the reason for your dismissal. Or maybe you're lying?

28. Don't explain details of your resume.

It is not allowed to write explanations, comments, footnotes, etc. in your resume. Only dates, facts, achievements.

The worst thing that can happen is the “Recommendations” section and the phrase “I will provide it upon request.” What is the point of such a section? A list of recommenders is unnecessary. Nobody will call them before the interview with you. And after the interview, you will be able to provide this list if there is a request.

30. Remove tables and large indents

Tables in resumes were adopted in the early 2000s. Then the entire civilized world abandoned them. Don't act like a dinosaur.

Also, don't take up most of the summary with very large spaces on the left side of the document.

31. Leave the first jobs for your grandmother

For simplicity, I'll just describe how it would be OK:

  • Last place of work: 7–10 lines of responsibilities and 5–7 lines of achievements.
  • Previous place of work: 5-7 lines of responsibilities and 3-5 lines of achievements.
  • Place of work before last: 3–5 lines of responsibilities and 3 lines of achievements.
  • Other places of work: 3 lines + 3 lines of achievements, if they fall within the range of the last 10 years of work.
  • Everything that was before 10 years ago: only the names of companies and positions.
  • If in your career there were places of work that were not relevant to your current position, feel free to delete them. For example, now you are a marketing director, but you started 15 years ago as an engineer at a factory or a salesperson at the market.

32. Remove vocational school

If you studied at a vocational school, college, technical school, and then graduated from a university, show only the university.

33. Don’t show your resume to HR specialists you know if you’re not sure of their professionalism.

We have many HR specialists who consider themselves gurus and give advice left and right. Find out how many vacancies they filled themselves, how many people are interviewed on average per day. What books have you read about recruiting? How many of them were foreign?

If you receive answers like this:

  • more than 500 vacancies;
  • 5–10 per day;
  • more than five books (at least!);
  • Lou Adler, Bill Radin, Tony Byrne;

...then feel free to trust the advice!

I'm doing a little research, so in the comments to this post, write which of all the tips described was the most valuable to you. This will help me understand your needs and write another cool article on how to sell yourself more during an interview.

P.S. Friends, thank you all for your comments. My colleague and I wrote a book where I shared more big amount advice. It is available at the link.

The article was visually designed by the genius of presentations

Lately, I often have to help with resume writing. Some kind of general desire to change everything that is possible: life, work, place of residence. The most accessible thing is to change your job for a better one. The first step, so to speak.

As a rule, to establish yourself as a specialist, you need a convincing and well-written resume. And who said that writing a resume is not copywriting? What a great one!

Perhaps the most important selling text for your own benefit. A unique text that will help you sell your skills, your professional quality for the maximum high price.

Your resume should be a well-written document that demonstrates your credibility and professionalism in every line and paragraph. There is no place for a lengthy biography. No one cares how many times you have been married or what kind of trials you have had to endure.

  • It should contain a concise statement of information that will highlight you in a favorable light among the crowd of applicants, as a class specialist, a professional.
  • Moments professional growth and achievements that will make HR officers and the employer pay attention to you personally: such a valuable and necessary specialist for the company.

Example of a professional resume

How to write a good resume

  • Title or header.
  • Purpose of writing a resume.
  • Education.
  • Work experience and position for which you are applying.
  • Desired payment.
  • Additional information.

Now in more detail on each point.

IN "Heading" indicate your details:

  1. Last name, first name, patronymic - this is required
  2. Indicate your year of birth if you think this information will add points to you. The price is for people 30-35 years old. The chances are significantly lower for 45-year-olds and 19-year-olds. But you can’t hide your sewing in a bag. You will indicate the years of study. So here it’s up to you to decide whether to advertise your age from the very first lines or not.
  3. Marital status is also not necessary, but desirable.
  4. Address, telephone, Email, skype. All those contacts that you consider necessary. This is a mandatory item.

Note

If there are several telephone numbers, first indicate the telephone number by which you can be reached at any time.
The potential employer has a lot of you, applicants. If you don’t get through the first time, consider the train has left and so has the coveted vacancy.

In chapter "Target", clearly indicate the position for which you are applying.

Attention

As a rule, a resume is written based on the vacancy that the employer currently requires. You should not indicate several positions at once in one document.

  1. Create a separate resume for each ad.
  2. One job offer - one resume.

In the column "Education" start with the profession and diploma that give you the basis to apply for this position.

Please indicate your educational institution, qualifications, and average score.
If you attended advanced training courses in your profession or did an internship at a prestigious enterprise, be sure to write about it.

Honors degree? Be sure to point out this fact. Academic degree? Absolutely gorgeous.

On a note

Feel free to talk about all your achievements in the field of activity for which you are applying.

If the education does not correspond to either the position or profession, the title educational institution, years of study, diploma or certificate of education must be indicated.

Additionally, write about your level of computer and Internet skills.
List the programs you work with and are fluent in.

Be sure to indicate your language proficiency level. If, of course, such knowledge exists, and consider that extra points are in your pocket.

You can indicate whether you have a license to drive a car or whether you own the car itself.
For some reason, this question from the employer in an oral conversation when applying for a job is heard very often, even if the applicant came to be hired as a janitor or salesperson.

Count “Work experience and desired position” This is the most important part of your resume.

  • Start from your last job. In what organization, for how long, in what terms did you work. Are you still working there?
  • Indicate your achievements, successes, advanced training courses, everything that can confirm your competence and serve to your benefit.
  • Don't list details work book, write about real work experience, use terms, indicate those character traits that will help you achieve success in the position for which you are applying.

The employer must see you as a person who has all the necessary complex of knowledge, skills and character traits.

However, trainings and courses that are not relevant should not be listed. It is unlikely that it will be useful for a future boss to know that you took an origami course if he is considering your candidacy as an economist or HR manager.

Question desired payment- the most ticklish one on a resume.

On a note

If you know your worth as a specialist, and are not ready to work for an amount less than what you value yourself, feel free to write exactly that.

If you are applying for the same position that you previously worked in another place, and you know how much such a vacancy is paid, write the amount of the expected salary. However, please note that your pay plans and your employer's plans may not be the same.

If you know your lower earnings limit, then write that you expect to be paid at least a certain amount.
You don’t have to indicate this item at all and respond to advertisements that indicate wage for a vacancy.
Another example:

How to avoid annoying mistakes

  1. First of all, the resume must be written correctly, without errors and clumsy phrases. Proofread what you have written and make sure that all terms, program names, and abbreviations of educational institutions are written correctly and do not contain annoying typos, errors, or inaccuracies.
  2. An illiterately written resume makes an unfavorable impression. It “hurts” the eye immediately upon reading, and the matter may not lead to an interview at all. Even if the data you provided would suit your potential superiors perfectly.
  3. It is better to place your resume on one sheet of paper. It’s worse if it’s two pages and a stack of several pages is completely useless.
Imagine a personnel officer or employer who is forced to read multi-page opuses of each applicant-writer. Usually only the beginning is carefully observed.
  4. This single page must be formatted in a readable manner. Both too small and large fonts are unacceptable. Ideally 12 pt.
  5. The text should not be positioned all over each other. Break it up into paragraphs of 2-3 sentences.

Put your soul into your resume, don’t “dry” the text with paperwork. But don't overdo it either. Choose the golden mean between a statement of facts and a list of skills, insert a highlight of uniqueness.

The employer should see you as both a specialist and a person focused on career growth. A specialist from whom the company will benefit from cooperation and a person with whom it will be comfortable to work.

Very important

Writing a competent, convincing resume is not a five-minute task. Spend time on this once, create a template, a basis, and adjust it as needed.

It would be nice if the document includes your photo: small, but good quality. This will add advantages to a positive decision and your resume will not get lost in a pile of faceless and dryly official submissions of competitors.

Now you know how to compose good resume on one's own. Don't rely on online resume writing services. Unique texts always stand out against the background of templates, you will have a chance to attract the attention of the employer.

A resume is the first step in finding a prestigious and well-paid job, which should lead you to an interview. Make it competent and convincing.

Dear friends! Denis Povaga writes. I decided to prepare a post for offline job seekers. Although I advise you to build a career on this too. But there are readers who choose a profession based on their specialty and are looking for a resume to get a job.

I often moved in and out of jobs. And I was always puzzled by how to competently present myself so that they would choose me. I think your situation is similar...

Gradually, I began to understand that I could not earn much money in any job. And one fine day, I completely devoted myself to the Internet business. I work from home for myself, publishing articles on this blog.

First, let's get acquainted. My name is Denis Povaga. And you are on my blog site

Below is a complete list and examples of resumes. And you can download any one, and all you have to do is enter your First Name, Last Name, fill out the required fields, and send it to the employer. But first, I recommend watching a comic video on how to behave correctly during an interview:

12 ways to get a job right?

Of course, this is a joke video from YouTube.

And below you can download real job resume.

For convenience, I will analyze each profession. And I will give a recommendation on how to do this. And you already take the information that is most needed)) And if you have questions, ask in the comments below. I hope the review helps you!

So. We begin.

Why do you need a resume when applying for a job?

Not everywhere, the employer provides such an opportunity to select based on a resume. But self-respecting companies choose this method. And first, a preliminary interview takes place among those who filled out the forms. This can be a direct contact to the company, or you can send a questionnaire by email. In some cases, the resume follows a company template. That is, there are questions that interest the employer, and the more competently you fill out the questionnaire, the more likely it is that you will work with them. In theory, 70% of success may depend on a well-filled resume.

Imagine that a company is looking for an accountant, but the competition for the position is too high. There are so many people interested that more than 100 people apply per day. But the employer does not need everyone, but only the accountant who can best cope with the assigned tasks. They choose the best. And your resume serves to help you make your choice.

How to compose and write the right resume?

But here it is more interesting. If you are given the opportunity to fill it out by email, do not be afraid that it will not go unread. Another thing is that when you send it, you can additionally call the company and clarify or inform that I have sent you my profile for the chosen profession.

That is, on the one hand a call can lift you above others this time. And secondly, they sent you via email and additionally confirmed that you exist))

It turns out that you can stand out among other candidates.

Don’t be afraid to say more in the form if there are additional fields. But about the salary, where they ask for the desired one, you don’t have to write a big one. Select medium. Even though this amount may not seem so big to you, the chances that they will choose you increase. After all, the first thing you do is get a job, and as you go along, you are provided with a salary and social benefits. plastic bag. Of course, if there is one))

Regarding education. Write those that actually exist. But again, you can lie about the fact that there is an unfinished second higher education on such and such a topic. And plus additional courses- indicate those that can distinguish you in the eyes of the manager.

Write honestly, but where there is an opportunity to embellish, don’t be afraid to write more. Since the main selection will be based on a questionnaire. That is, the examiner may not see you as beautiful in person, but how beautifully you write your resume will determine your success.

Therefore, fill out the fields in detail, point by point. Below are examples, and ready-made templates for different professions.

note that before the main resume, you can send a supporting one. Especially if you do it via email. There is an option to create a resume in physical form. That is, print it out. And when applying for a job, don’t be shy to tell more about yourself, providing everything in a couple of sheets. In a personal meeting, if you approach the question competently, you may not only like you, but after the interview you will also leave a personal resume with contact information on the manager’s desk. 90% - that they will choose you!

The main thing is to take the drafting seriously.

Cover letter for resume - what is it and why is it needed?

And this thing will help provide a basic summary. It wouldn’t be right to immediately send your profile by email. It is much more effective to write a cover letter, in which you write in a couple of lines who you are and how you responded to the vacancy (where you came from, where you learned from).

Just information, like - I’m such and such, and I found out about your vacancy from an advertisement in the Rabota newspaper or from the Avito website. After all, a company can provide several sources of advertising, and by telling them where you learned about the profession, you help them determine their working channels.

This is one of the advantages of an accompanying resume. And most importantly, the role of the letter is to introduce the reader on the other side to your main summary.

In general, it is mandatory to compile it if you send a sample by email, and not necessarily if you give your resume in person. Just in a personal meeting or over the phone - you can explain in words who you are, what vacancy you are interested in and where you learned about it from...

Example of an accompanying resume:

Hello.

My name is Ivanova Anna. Allow me to attach your resume for the vacancy - “Accountant”. I learned about the profession from an advertisement on the website “ Avito". I am ready to provide any additional information necessary for consideration of my candidacy.

Best wishes,
Ivanova Anna, tel. 8-977-777-77-77

Thank you in advance!

p.s. I am attaching my resume as a separate file.

Your resume is your personal introduction, leaving the first but most lasting impression. So before you write it, think about where you are sending it, who will receive it, how it will be read, and what folder it will be put in. Remember, the job of an HR manager is not to select suitable resumes, but to reject unsuitable ones.

Let's look first at the main points of a resume, then at points that can be used as needed, and finally, in conclusion, you will find some general tips for writing a resume. The first tip is that the resume must be compiled on a computer, preferably in MS Word.

Five main resume points:

Last name, first name and patronymic
The word "resume" is usually not written. It is better to write in large letters (18-20 font), in the center, at the top, your last name, first name and patronymic. Such a title will help you quickly find your resume in a stack of hundreds of similar papers. It is better not to write the words “Last name”, “First name”, and “Patronymic name”.

Contact information
Here it is necessary to provide the most complete and thorough information that will allow you to quickly and effectively contact you in the event that they are interested in your candidacy and want to invite you for an interview. When indicating your telephone number(s), do not forget to make the appropriate notes, for example, “work”, “home”, “mobile”, etc., and also indicate the time when you can be called. Remember: the faster a HR employee contacts you, the greater your chances of beating your competitors in getting a particular job.

Target
An employer, as a rule, is recruiting for several vacancies, so be sure to make the next heading “Purpose”. Here you should write what vacancy, job, or area of activity you are applying for. In the “goal” paragraph you can also indicate your wishes and requirements for your future place of work.

Education
Create a heading "Education" and list the educational institution, schools, courses, institutes, etc. which you have already completed or are still continuing to study:

· Use either reverse chronological order, i.e. indicate your last place of study first, or the principle of significance, i.e. First indicate the place of study that is most significant for the job you are looking for.

· For each place of study, provide the following information: period of study with exact (month, year) indication of the start and end dates of study; place of study (if the name of the educational institution does not indicate its location, indicate the city, country) and, finally, indicate the qualification that you received upon completion of your studies, i.e. indicate the title (certificate, diploma, certificate, etc. in the specialty).

· List only those places of study that are important for the given job you are looking for.

experience
This the most important block a resume describing work experience (if any), including internship. Create a heading “Work Experience” and list your former places of work:

· Use either reverse chronological order, i.e. indicate your last place of work first;

· For each place of employment, provide the following information: company name; the scope of the company's activities; period of employment with an exact (month, year) indication of the start and end dates of work; job title; responsibilities (state your responsibilities in three to four sentences); professional skills and achievements.

· List only those jobs that are relevant to the job you are seeking.

· Do not leave gaps in busy period dates.

This is where the mandatory information ends, without which your resume is unlikely to be used for its intended purpose, and the, although not obligatory, but no less important part begins. You are given the opportunity to provide additional information about yourself, but remember you must provide only what is directly related to your “goal.”

Additional Information
For example, you know how to work on a computer, you know a foreign language, you can typewrite, you have a driver’s license. If any of these skills will help you cope with your future responsibilities, then indicate them by creating appropriate headings, for example, "computer knowledge", " foreign languages", etc. Specialists, for example, programmers, are recommended to provide more detailed information (programming languages, OS, databases, Internet programming). In the “foreign languages” section, it is advisable to indicate not only your level of language proficiency, but also where and for how long you studied it. Depending on the "goal", it may be appropriate to indicate "awards", "publications", "participation in conferences", etc.

Personal data
Information such as “gender”, “age”, “health”, “hobbies”, “marital status”, “citizenship”, “religion”, “attitude to military service”, etc. are purely personal and it is your choice to write them or not.

Recommendations
If you have an agreement with people who can provide you letters of recommendation, then in the conclusion you can indicate these people, usually two, indicating how to contact them. Recommendations can be provided to you by the head of the department and employees of the Directorate for Targeted Training.

When writing your resume, keep the following principles in mind:

Structurality

All information in a resume must be presented in a certain sequence.

Selectivity

When thinking about your resume, first of all, determine its purpose, that is, decide what kind of job you want to get. Analyze your professional experience and choose from it only what exactly matches your goal. A selective approach will protect your resume from unnecessary information.

Objectivity

Be realistic and objective when describing your experience and skills. You must be prepared to justify everything you put on your resume.

Brevity

The volume of the resume should not exceed one page, so the information must be presented briefly, focusing on the most important and significant points for the employer.

Specificity

It is necessary to be extremely specific in the choice of wording.

Activity

Don't be verbose and avoid passive forms. Emphasize the results achieved using action verbs.

Positivity

Prefer positive information over negative information.

Focus on your achievements.

Try not to use the pronoun "I".

What not to write on your resume

Heading: “Resume”, “CV”, etc. (it’s clear from the type of document what we’re talking about);

Your physical characteristics and health description;

Your weaknesses;

The reasons why you left your job;

You should not attach your photo.

When the resume has already been written

Make sure that you use verbs in the present tense when describing your current job, and verbs in the past tense when describing your previous jobs.

Check that there are no too long phrases, complex or unclear words.

Clearly highlight the necessary headings.

Make sure your resume is in the same style.

Choose a format that is easy to read: large margins, font that is not small but not too large, sufficient spacing between lines, etc.

). You can show love for God and your neighbor not only by serving in or at church, but also by working, performing seemingly purely secular duties. Isn’t it possible, for example, for a believing doctor, writer, poet, historian, artist, defender of the fatherland, ecologist to glorify God, show love for one’s neighbor, working in his place, working in a way that pleases God? Obviously it can. This can be called a form of serving God. Generally speaking, there are many such types of “secular” work.

Work in the Church

Many people who have converted to Orthodoxy begin to feel burdened by “secular” work. This is not surprising, since the aspirations of non-church society are ever further away from what is acceptable and valuable for Christians. The desire to serve the Church also pushes us to look for work “at the temple.” as an employer is the topic of the conversation we begin in this issue. There are many questions here. For example, there is a widespread belief that in Orthodox organizations the efficiency of work is lower than in secular ones. Is this so, and if so, why? Are “parallel” secular Orthodox structures - hospitals, schools, workshops, etc. - necessary and possible? How does work in the Church generally differ from “secular” work?

NS correspondent Vladimir Totsky learned the opinions of the rectors of several Moscow churches about this. “If I were the directors, I would advertise: I’m looking for believing employees.” The archpriest is a master of theology, associate professor at the Moscow Theological Academy and professor at the St. Tikhon’s Theological Institute, rector of the Church of the Life-Giving Trinity in Trinity-Golenischev. The temple is engaged in publishing activities. The parish magazine “Cyprian's Source”, books and brochures of liturgical, everyday, and scientific content are published. There is a library at the temple. There is a Sunday school where, in addition to the Law of God, icon painting, singing, handicrafts are taught, and for teenagers - iconography, church architecture, the beginnings of journalism, and a children's parish newspaper is published. The parents' club meets every Sunday.

A feature of parish life was religious processions to local shrines, the installation of memorial crosses and prayer services at them. - Father Sergius, what difficulties does an Orthodox Christian have in a secular society? - The fact that an unbelieving environment surrounds us is our reality. And you don't have to be afraid of it. In early Christianity in the Roman Empire, Christians were surrounded by pagans. Believers gathered in the catacombs at night for worship, and worked during the day. We must be able to overcome these difficulties calmly. If they laugh at you, scold you, spit in your back - and this has happened - you have to be patient. These difficulties are quite bearable. It’s not like they’re arresting or imprisoning people like before. - Are there any large employers among church organizations? - Apparently, we have very few church employer organizations. We also do not have political movements associated with Orthodoxy. If there are patriots, they are not always Orthodox. No one from the government or the Duma said: “I am an Orthodox, believer.”

Maybe only one Podberezkin. Meanwhile, if I were an employer, I would do the same thing that one German youth did many years ago. He advertised in one newspaper: “I am looking for a girl of a Christian worldview to start a family.” And if I were the director, I would give similar advertisements, they say, I am looking for believing employees... I would know that a believing person will not deceive me, will not steal - he fears God. I know from my father that Vladyka held the position of treasurer in the Solovetsky camp, i.e. issued salaries to NKVD officers, because they didn't trust themselves. But they knew that the Russian bishop would not steal. What are the problems in church work? Money is tight? Yes. Temptations? Yes, since our passions are raging, here is the front line, the front, where demonic forces are constantly attacking, and we are not always able to fight them off. And at the same time, some miracle happens: there is no money, but the temple is being restored. They donate boards, bricks, and concrete. The temple has its own special exchange rate. If the master says, I will do this work in the world for so much, then for you it is three times cheaper.

Because for God. After all, even a building material, a simple brick, behaves in a special way in a temple, in a residential building, a commercial establishment, or, even worse, in an entertainment venue. Museum workers, for example, they are surprised: ancient vestments embroidered with gold are worse preserved if they hang on a stand than those that are in use and in which they serve. - What is your opinion about combining secular work and work in the church? - There are few such parishioners. Now a person who has a job is so busy that he simply doesn’t have the strength to go anywhere else. Now in commercial structures they demand ten times more from an employee than in Soviet times. We need people, but we can barely make ends meet. - Who exactly? - Clerk, communications person public organizations, watchman, cleaners... - And what difficulties does the rector of the temple, confessor, or just a priest experience? - I teach at the Theological Academy and St. Tikhon's Institute. I work on the canonization commission of the Ryazan diocese, in the Orthodox Encyclopedia. There is no question of going on a visit or just walking down the street. A modern priest is like a soldier who sits in a branched trench and runs from one gun to another, replacing an entire platoon. But we need to give communion, confess the sick, meet with schoolchildren, restorers, builders, artists... Previously, the righteous saint John of Kronstadt worked in this way - now all our priests. But if we remember the dialectic of the reverend, we live in the most favorable time. The Diveyevo nuns lived in terrible poverty and one day complained to Father Seraphim. What did he answer them? I, he says, can turn all this clay into gold, but it will not be useful to you. It’s useful for you to make ends meet. And I will pray to God that it will be so. And it’s the same with us. We served without heating for two years. Water flowed down the walls. And when a person has a lot of something, he unwittingly becomes spiritually corrupted. “In the Orthodox environment, work is perceived as a blessing from God” Hieromonk Sergius (Rybko), rector of the Church of the Descent of the Holy Spirit at the Lazarevskoye cemetery. The temple is engaged in publishing activities. There is a large bookstore and icon shop at the temple. The poor are given books to read. The store has a small meatless section food products. An icon-painting workshop has been created at the temple. There is a Sunday school for children with a library.

Recently His Holiness Patriarch Alexy II blessed Hierarch. Sergius for the construction of a new temple in Bibirevo. - What problems does someone who comes to work in a church face? - Not enough money - once. There are churches that are not poor, but sometimes they pay little. This is already the abbot’s fault. You can’t keep an employee in a black body, he also has a family, he has children. In general, people should live with dignity. I don’t think that God is pleased when people building or restoring live in poverty. And whoever pays decently, I know, he has workers, and the Lord sends funds. “Every worker is worthy of food,” says the Holy Scripture. If you pay enough, your employee will not look for work on the side, but will devote all his professionalism and energy to the temple. There are times when a person does not want to take a salary. I just force him, because he will work for free for the time being. And the money you pay a person is what he will earn for you. And there will never be a problem where to find a worker. - What professions are in demand in the temple? - Many. Publishing workers, programmers, accountants, economists. The economy of the temple must be modern. I believe that we ourselves must earn money. This is more correct than walking with an outstretched hand to non-church people. Whoever wants to help will bring what to ask from him. - What are the advantages of working in a church community? - A circle of like-minded people. A person works for God, for his neighbor, for the salvation of his soul. This all gives great comfort. Then the opportunity to constantly attend worship services. You need to choose a church to work in where the abbot does not send an employee to run back and forth during the service. For example, our meals are prepared in the evening. Then, constant nourishment and communication with a confessor, the opportunity to receive communion on a holiday, which does not always happen in secular work. - Father, one leader who considers himself Orthodox told me that in commercial organization a believing employee is a great luxury. It’s Easter, then it’s mid-sex… And he “corrupts” his colleagues with his reluctance to earn money for himself, and therefore for the company. - A person who works in a temple is less dependent on the world and its temptations. You can always find help and sympathy in the community. In the temple you serve God, and this is the main thing, since this is what a person was born for. They say that there are more temptations in the temple? It’s just that in the world something is not considered a temptation, but is considered to be ordinary life. And a person from the world comes to the temple and thinks that there are angels there...

There are, of course, problems with both the headman and the rector. We must be patient. After all, it was not without God’s providence that these people ended up in the temple. - Do you think there is a need for parallel secular Orthodox structures and organizations? - I think they are needed. Especially schools and kindergartens. Orthodox gymnasiums also have their own problems, but at least there they don’t rip your head off and don’t openly swear. IN modern school a normal person can neither teach nor learn. It seems to me that Sunday schools should develop into Orthodox gymnasiums. It's different in hospitals. When a believer finds himself in a secular environment, they begin to “ride” him: they assign him the most difficult work, but pay him less, taking advantage of his irresponsibility. And he also cares for the patient in a different way, not just as a doctor. Because the salvation of his soul, and this is the main thing for him, depends on his attitude towards the patient. The monk said that the sick person and the one caring for him receive one reward. In the Orthodox environment, work is perceived as a blessing from God, as a joy, and not as a need to earn money. People who understand at least a little what Orthodoxy is, value believers, try to take them to work, appoint them as bosses: you can rely on them, they will not deceive, steal, or pull the blanket over themselves. And when there is a whole company of such workers, it is absolutely wonderful - one big family, a kind of monastery in the world. I know entrepreneurs who hire only believers. And I welcome the creation of Orthodox structures in any area. Back in 1989, an officer told me about an experiment in the army. They gathered Orthodox military personnel into one platoon. He immediately became the very first in all respects.

There was no hazing - this curse of the modern army. The first in studies, and in shooting, and in work. The stronger ones pulled the weaker ones up, taught them, cared for them. Any Orthodox person probably wants to either go to a monastery or work at a church. But this is not always possible. We need to develop production. Previously, Russian monasteries provided 20 percent of the gross product Agriculture. I think this is still possible. “A large parish needs people with both technical and humanitarian professions” Archpriest, rector of the Church of the Annunciation in Petrovsky Park, acting. Chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate Department for Cooperation with the Armed Forces and Law Enforcement Agencies. At the Church of the Annunciation, a sisterhood has been operating in the name of St. for more than ten years. prpmts. Elizabeth, three years old - Orthodox orphanage "Pavlin". It has its own gymnasium and a book publishing house that produces spiritual and church-historical literature. The parish newspaper “Calendar” is published monthly. - Are Orthodox structures parallel to secular ones necessary and possible, in your opinion? - Undoubtedly. And what's wrong with that? It is easier and more convenient for a parishioner to go to an Orthodox doctor who practices on the territory of the temple. I know that there are even dental offices at churches. I myself have used it more than once. When I pay a doctor, I know that the money will go to his family, his children, but a small part will go to the temple, to repair the roof, fence, and will not be transferred to some offshore zone. Orthodox orphanages already exist. A maternity hospital is necessary because it is impossible to give birth and at the same time kill unborn children under the same roof, as happens in a state institution. - What is the difference between working in the world and in the temple? - I will only talk about my arrival. In my opinion, working in the world has less social protection. The worker there depends on the whim of the employer. The owner may go bankrupt and the business may close. But all these negative aspects of working in the world are compensated by the opportunity to earn more. Mostly like-minded people work in the temple, the spiritual atmosphere is more favorable. And the operating mode is gentle.

Plus the food is actually homemade. Salaries are paid without delays. - But not everyone can find work in their specialty at the temple... - Few parents prepare and educate their children to work in the temple. But in a large parish, such as ours, we need people from technical and humanitarian professions, and even the military. Sunday school needs experienced teachers. Publishing workers, journalists, sellers will always find work, because... Now almost every church publishes something. We publish a monthly newspaper with 50 pages. We publish books: lives, prayer books, just rare books... Good artists, icon painters, restorers are always welcome. The church needs builders, painters, plasterers, plumbers, cooks, and drivers (we have our own garage). We need musicians and singers. - There is an opinion that those working in the temple have many temptations. - There are enough temptations everywhere. Are there fewer temptations in the army? What about the police, what about the driver? Maybe in the temple every match is seen as a log. By contrast, so to speak. - Usually in the church structure it is not easy to take initiative, because... many questions revolve around the blessing of the abbot or the lack of funds in the church treasury. - It’s exactly the same in the world. And presidents depend on the adopted budget.

And there are plenty of opportunities to show initiative: issues of catechesis, Sunday school, restoration of the temple... We have created the world's largest Russian Orthodox library on the Internet. Open it, anyone who wants to read it. True, many initiatives need enthusiasts and cannot always be rewarded financially. - But the greatest value is probably good worker, conscientious, capable of making decisions, obligatory. You can find money for repairs, but a specialist... - There is a shortage of personnel everywhere. Even in government. But a specialist needs to pay a lot. My team is good, but if the parish had more funds, I would have assembled a stronger team. Not all parishioners are able to sacrifice their well-being and go to work in the temple.

To church - to work?

In order to be able to go to church not just once a week, but every day, eat fast, talk with fellow believers “about spiritual things,” some newly converted Orthodox Christians are even ready to leave a well-paid job and become a church choirboy, reader, watchman, cleaner... But will the work bring does the temple benefit the soul? After all, the church has its own “temptations”.

In one of his books he talked about a peasant who loved to come to the temple and spend long hours in it. When asked what he was doing all this time, the peasant answered: I look at God, God looks at me, and we both feel good. For people raised in the faith from childhood, being in church - at a church service or simply for prayer - is an organic part of life, but, perhaps, only beginners experience delight from this, bordering on the gospel “it’s good for us to be here.” More than ten years have passed since I joined the church, but I still remember how I didn’t want to leave the church after the service, how I was drawn to go there every time I was nearby. I remember envy - in a good sense, if, of course, envy can be in a good sense - towards all the “workers”: choristers, candle makers, prosphora makers, even the church watchman. They don’t need to leave, they “belong” in this wonderful world, smelling of wax and incense, in its very core.

Surely every neophyte, even if only in theory, had this thought: I want it too. I want to work for God - and for this particular temple as well. By the way, church employees try not to call their work work. “We work for the Lord” - as if emphasizing that secular work is exclusively for the benefit of one’s pocket. It’s clear that a church salary (if there is one, of course) is just a modest material addition to spiritual joy, but the approach is still strange. Almost all work is done for other people, and everything we do for others conscientiously and with love, we do for the Lord. So I still dare to call church work work. “Work for the Lord with fear and rejoice in him with trembling” - these words of the psalm are not only about spiritual work, but also about the simplest physical things. As they say, be careful what you wish for - you may get it. I taught Sunday school for two years and sang in the choir for seven years, so I know parish life from the inside. And I can safely say: work in the temple, with the exception of some nuances, is practically no different from any other work. Moreover, if we take into account the spiritual specificity of this work, there is something in it that makes it not very useful for immature and weak souls.

And this is not just my opinion. It is a well-known fact that the archimandrite was not very willing to bless his worldly spiritual children for parish service. How does a person who has just touched it imagine the “inside” of the church world? Approximately like a certain branch of the Kingdom of God on earth. And this is not entirely an illusion; rather, the point is in the so-called invoking grace, familiar to every beginner. During this amazing time, without any effort, we notice all the good things and do not see the negative point-blank - the soul simply pushes it away from itself. And there would be no way to extend this period - but we so want to go deeper into the church environment, and we don’t even bother to think that being closer to the temple does not necessarily mean being closer to God. When reality does not correspond to what was expected, it is always unpleasant and offensive. No one expects unearthly joys from ordinary worldly work. It provides a means of livelihood, allows you to communicate with people, and if it also gives you pleasure, what more could you ask for? And even if something is wrong with your job, you can always change it, the world will not collapse because of it. The church is another matter. Using an anonymous statement known in the Orthodox RuNet, “ the main task a person who has seen church life from the inside - to make sure that people with a delicate spiritual organization do not find out about its contents.” Is it really that bad? Of course no.

It’s just that everyone who wants to work in the church must be aware of how capable they are of fighting what the church ladies, pursing their lips, call “temptation.” As sad as it may be, that part of the Body of Christ, which is living people, is sick - because we are all sick, physically, mentally and spiritually. Even those glorified as saints during their lifetime were ordinary people with their shortcomings, sins, vices, with which they more or less successfully fought. So we bring our worldly troubles to church. Will a newcomer, plunged into the depths of the parish, be able to understand this, discard the superficial, unusual for real spiritual life - how we accept a loved one with all his shortcomings? Or will he say, striking a pose: “No, I don’t need such a church, would it be better to have “God-in-the-soul”? The first thing you encounter when you come to work in a church is that the parish resembles a giant communal apartment (especially if it is a small parish). In it, everyone knows everything about everyone. And what they don’t know, they will guess. At first, this is even pleasing, since the process of becoming “one of our own” is impossible without accumulation internal information. Dating, establishing relationships, conversations, more and more frank... And at some point you realize that it would be better for you not to know all this.

Even if there is no refectory in the church, you still can’t escape these conversations - they will catch up both in the vestibule and on the bench. Many believers who often visit the temple notice over time that reverence gradually disappears somewhere. It’s not that there is complete indifference or some kind of blasphemous and cynical thoughts (although such things happen), but there is no longer that spiritual heat and trembling that once covered at the first exclamation: “Blessed is the Kingdom...”. Routine prayer work, which only occasionally explodes with real living feelings. What then can we say about those who actually work in church every or almost every day and during the service - so that the service can be performed? Well, let's not touch the priest, but what about the rest? The singers sing, the readers read, the candle makers look after the candlesticks, the candle shop workers take notes. When should they pray? Especially singers often complain: what a prayer, if only I could hit the notes, so I’ll go to another church and pray there. It would be good if the priest explained that prayer is not only verbal, but also deed. Helping others to pray means you are praying yourself. And the opposite also happens. I’m singing here (reading, cleaning a candlestick), no laws are written for me. And during the service you can sit, chat, leaf through a magazine, go out for a smoke at the Six Psalms. In singing groups and communities, a list of many items “How to entertain yourself during service” is very popular - such bad advice in the spirit of Auster. This, they say, is our healthy professional cynicism, forgetting that professional cynicism, in principle, is never healthy - it is simply a psychological defense against overload.

I wonder what you need to protect yourself from in the choir? From “the laws are not written to me” logically follows the disdainful attitude of temple employees towards “ordinary” parishioners. Or, as they are often called, to “the people.” Have you ever been yelled at by church cleaners for not drying your feet well? Were you kicked out of the temple for violating the dress code? What’s more, you should listen to how they respond to your singing “past the cash register” in the choir, when you diligently write: “...And the lives of the next century, amen.” And they also giggle at your willows and birches, at the scarves wrapped over your trousers, at any of your mistakes. “Oh, someone asked me this today... it’s just hilarious!” And when the singers run out in a line to be anointed, not all of them realize that they are being skipped in line not at all because they are the highest caste, but only because they now have to sing the next Irmos. It is impossible not to mention one more moment, a mystical one. This is especially true for the same choir, which is not for nothing called the church’s front line of struggle. It happens that a smart, sweet, calm person suddenly, for no reason at all, behaves as if he had been bitten by a fly, and then he himself cannot understand what came over him, why he lost his temper, became rude, and was offended by an innocent remark. Yes, yes, this is precisely the notorious “temptation” that we often cannot cope with. And you yourself sin, and you lead others into the temptation of condemnation: so that’s what you are, a scarlet flower! Sooner or later, relationship problems arise in any, even very friendly choir, and not only in the choir.

And finally, on the “indecent” topic - money. In terms of destroying illusions, it is perhaps the most effective. Truly, blessed is he who does not receive a salary in church and does not in any way encounter this side of church life. But this is practically impossible. Even in the poorest or, on the contrary, successful church from the point of view of redistribution of cash flows, there will always be dissatisfied and envious people, and even with long tongues. “Either he stole it, or it was stolen from him...” Some complain that the salary is small, others look at the priest with suspicion new car or mother's new coat. “I donated for repairs, there were no repairs, and there are no new things, but here they are.” Well, where are the advantages of working in the temple, why not a word about them? Yes, because it is obvious and can be described briefly. Once again I will return to the story told by Bishop Anthony. The temple is the house of God. I look at God, God looks at me, and we both feel good. It’s up to you and your confessor to decide whether to work in the church or not. God help you. Archpriest Maxim Kozlov, rector of the Church of the Holy Martyr at Moscow University, comments: “For two reasons at once, I would not recommend that a newly converted Christian do this (get a job in a church - editor’s note) Firstly, because few of us come to Church with such a measure of repentance, changing one’s personal life, such as, for example, the Venerable Mary of Egypt and other great saints. We are trying to get away from some gross sins, but we still don’t know how to do almost anything in the Church.

And the main thing in the Church is prayer and communion with God. For a person who is not yet rooted in this, who has no experience of prayer and communion with God, it is very easy to replace the main thing with something earthly, which he can do well. He may be a good computer professional, which will be useful in the temple. He can be a good organizer by nature and become an assistant during hikes and pilgrimage trips. He can be a good business executive; he will be hired as an assistant to the headman. And this secondary person can begin to perceive his activity as church life, as something that needs to be done first of all. And such an aberration will occur, a distortion of spiritual vision. This is the first reason why we should advise you to simply go to church for six months, a year, a year and a half, pray, get used to the rhythm of worship, fasting, and personal prayer rules. Learn repentance.

And then little by little, step by step, begin to cling to some appearance church activity. Second. The Church is in a sense a community of saints, but in a sense, as the monk said, it is a crowd of repentant sinners. And if a new church person too early, not being rooted in the main things in church life, sees the infirmities of church-going people, whom he often thinks from the outside as that very community of saints, including clergy, who may not turn out to be ideal at all, then for him this can be a temptation that is difficult to bear. Someday, a few years later, when everything will be perceived differently, this may not even become a problem. And here you can almost come to leaving the Church. Therefore, I would not advise getting involved in church work and external church activities too early. Let a person first feel at home in the Church, and then engage in external work.
