Here we need the crum number, we have all the information and proceed to obtaining the firmware.

Printing reports

The SCX-3400 series printers have a button: “Stop\Reset”, it has a cross.

How to get Report configuration:

From the “ready” state (the printer is on, lit green), press and hold the button Cancel, the indicator will blink, release the button, the printer will print Report configuration.

How to get a Supplies report:

From the “ready” state (the printer is turned on, lights up green), press and hold the Cancel button, the indicator will blink, continue to hold it when it turns on constantly, release the button and the printer will print Supplies report.

If the reports do not print because they are already blocked by toner, then you can print them from those menus. Do this: Press the following keys quickly: “+”, “+”, “STOP”, “-“, “-“, “STOP”, “STOP” The display should display “UC” Press the “+” button several times until “AA” appears on the display Press the “START” button A report will be printed containing the serial number and firmware version

Printer firmware

Firmware created on CRUM is almost no different from firmware with a serial number. The only condition is during firmware the chip must be in the cartridge.

After creating and downloading the firmware:

1. Unzip the contents of the resulting archive to your Desktop. You will see two files: the firmware file and usbrns2.exe.
2. Connect the printer to your computer via USB. It is not necessary to install a printer driver for firmware.
   Attention! During the firmware, the power must not be turned off!
3. Download the firmware.
   Be sure to flash with a chip!
   Drag the firmware file onto the usbrns2.exe file. A DOS window will appear and dots will run – the printer firmware is being updated. Be sure to wait for the process to complete!
4. After the firmware is completed, the toner counter will be reset, and will be reset every time you turn on the printer or open the cartridge cover. Now you can refill the cartridge multiple times. And it doesn’t matter if you have a chip or not, empty or full.
   After the firmware is installed, you can see the result of the firmware on the printer report.
