The moves have led to speculation that Amazon is trying to replace the logistics companies it relies on - UPS, FedEx and the United States Postal Service - with its local service. Google, eBay and others are constantly improving their same-day delivery services, and it's unlikely that online shopping users will be so impressed by Amazon's offering that they'll immediately opt for a slick but under-experienced alternative.
